About Me
I am Amy Sundberg, a musician and writer of science fiction, fantasy, and YA. I decided I wanted to be a writer when I was seven years old. Imagine my distress upon learning, as a ten-year-old, that being a writer wasn’t a practical career choice and that I would have to figure out something else to do instead. When I was fifteen, I decided that the obvious thing to do was to become a musician. Because that was ever so much more practical. (Yes, you aren’t imagining the sarcasm.)
I received my BA in Music and promptly moved overseas to London, where I might have learned more about myself than in the twenty-two years prior. After I returned to the States and floundered around for a while, I decided to start my own business teaching music lessons. This went much better than expected, while giving me the distinction of having a career that was actually related to my college degree.
More recently I gave up the business so I could renew focus on my writing after taking a fifteen-year sabbatical. You can check out some of my fiction here. These days I spend a lot of time writing, blogging, and reading what other people write.
Also, I visited six continents before my 31st birthday, a fact that continues to give me deep satisfaction.
About This Blog
I began this blog in the summer of 2010 because I felt I had a lot to say that wasn’t getting said. Also I have secretly always wanted to be a columnist, and writing a blog is pretty much the same thing.
I write on a variety of subjects, including but not limited to: my philosophies on life, being an artist, business, being a people pleaser, social media (including blogging), travel and why it is awesome, happiness, taking risks, being a free spirit, creativity, and writing.
I currently update the blog on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Hey Amy, you’re awesome! I also love personality tests:)
Hooray, personality test solidarity! I should look for some new ones soon. 🙂
Hi Amy,
So glad to see you evolving! I just had a quick scan of your blog and stuff and it’s awesome. Jeez you sure do read a lot – good career choice! Sorry to bother you but I didn’t see any other way to contact you. I’m teaching guitar these days and I have a student who wants to take voice lessons for the next 3 weeks (maybe more) while I’m on vacation (in New Zealand!! oh yeah!!!). Can you recommend someone in or near Los Altos? Thanks. I look forward to your next novel…
Sending some love to you and your blog!

Challenging (the all male/”collaborationist” women) status quo is the journey of a life-time…it brings fury, passion, a lot of loneliness but also great pride and joy into the brave woman’s life. Never an easy choice, always a necessity.
Ciao Amy! ! !
Artist Feminist Julian’s single-mother Very-Free Spirit Agent Provocatrice from Genoa, Italy.
Thank you! And I love the word Provocatrice. 🙂
Very interesting person you are. What kind of music Amy?
I studied Classical music, but I’ve also done a lot of musical theater and pop/rock. 🙂
Cool. 🙂
I love your about! My name is Amy as well and have wanted to be a writer since I was a teeny weeny dot also. However, like you, I realised that it wasn’t practical and so I started pursue drama. Until I realised that wasn’t practical either 😦 Therefore I now work in administration which is quite boring along with my blog to keep me sane and I volunteer at a drama class on Saturdays so I guess it’s a good alternative. It’s good to see that we have so much in common 🙂
